masque12I had three teeth yanked out today. Two impacted wisdom teeth on the bottom, and one on the upper right that I broke years ago. I have a shitload of other dental work that needs to be done, but my insurance only covers 1000 bucks a year, so it's going to have to be spaced out. I am definitely finding another dentist before I go in for any more work.
First off, the motherfucker didn't knock me out, he gave me a local. The teeth getting yanked out didn't hurt, the sensations of pulling and shit was actually kind of interesting, but that's not the problem. The problem is that the local anasthesia started wearing off about 10 minutes after I got out of the chair. Sweet fucking Christ, the pain was intense. They fucking told me that I should take the Vicodin before the numbness wears off, and then they give me so little anasthesia that it ensures that there's NO FUCKING CHANCE of taking the Vicodin before it wears off. The next time I go in for any dental work, I'll make them give me general anasthesia and knock my ass out dead cold. That way I will be off in Cloud-Cuckoo Land until well after I've been driven home and administered some pain medication.
Then, they give me a prescription for 20 Vicodin, to be taken one at a time, every 4 to 6 hours. You have got to be shitting me. I had to take three of those goddamn things before ANY pain went away. Even then, I had to pop a few Arthritis Pain Strength Tylenol, and the pain was STILL there, just manageable. Goddamn son of a bitch doctors are so paranoid about making sure their patients don't get addicted to drugs that they don't prescribe the NECESSARY amount to relieve pain. Newsflash, motherfuckers: When one is in PAIN, they don't get any enjoyment out of pain medication, all they get is the ABILITY to FUNCTION normally, as opposed to curled up in a little ball, writhing and sobbing because the pain is so fucking INTENSE. You fucking ignorant bastards. Yes, I was in tears. Yes, I have no problem admitting that. But I digress.
Luckily for me, I have a friend who had recently been prescribed both Vicodin and Darvocet for some type of pain or procedure that I can't quite remember right now. Unfortunately for him, they had no effect, but fortunately for me, he still has the meds and will hook me up with them, where they can be put to good use. Fucking doctors. This is why the medical industry is fucked. I have to resort to actions that are technically illegal, just to be able to function without pain for a few days. Will I get addicted? Fuck no, because SURPRISE! once the pain is gone, I won't need the meds anymore, and I'll stop taking them. Fucking stupid people. Too bad you can't kill 'em.
