I just watched two relatively recent documentaries, Hijacking Catastrophe and Outfoxed. I highly recommend them. Hijacking Catastrophe is what Fahrenheit 9/11 could have been if Michael Moore was a real documentary filmmaker instead of a manipulative, dishonest asshole, and Outfoxed is a documentary about how the Fox News Channel works. Both of them are a little over an hour long, and you can find them for sale with a quick Google search, or through BitTorrent other nefarious means.

Fahrenheit 9/11 pissed me off, because while Mikey may have had some good things to say, he distorted way too much in his presentation of it and ended up discrediting what little truth was in the flick. Hijacking Catastrophe, while obviously having a bit of a "liberal" bias, seems much more honest to me, and even harsher in its criticism of the current administration because its claims can be backed up.

While I'm not really fond of Bush, I don't have much hope for Kerry. I've taken some time to look into his positions, and on the issues I care about, he seems to be only cosmetically different from Bush, and worse on certain other ones (gun control, notably). It's pretty certain that here in Texas, Bush will carry the state, so I will most likely vote for a third party again, but I do hope Kerry wins, for one reason. While Bush and Kerry themselves may be only cosmetically different, I want to get rid of the PNAC fucks that surround Bush and their agenda. Real change is only going to happen with a major overhaul of the election process, but at least we can circulate the villains at the top.

I've been on a documentary kick lately, others ones I've watched recently, in no particular order:
Orwell Rolls In His Grave
The Corporation (three parts)
Manufacturing Consent
lots of other Chomsky things that I can't remember all the titles of.

I may add more as I remember them, or when I get home from work and check my computer.

Other ones, having less to do with current politics, but still interesting, are:
The Occult History of the Third Reich (four parts)
Hitler: The Rise of Evil (not a documentary, but a TV miniseries. It may just be my own perceptual filters, but I thought that when they covered the Reichstag fire, there were some interesting parallels to 9/11, YMMV)

Vote for Speak-and-Spell guy ( Sex and Death Party )
Ban all water!
Detonate all atomic weapons so there are no more left. The Nuclear winter will render all the water harmless (9 kids die a DAY from drowing and we're worried about the WTC). I've thought of voting for Kerry just cuz the Pookah is from county Kerry and my main wife had a lot of good times there, but gosh, do they have to make it look like Kerry is just a Skull and Bones stooge place in a position to throw the easiest win ever?
