I love it when morons try to claim legitimacy for the Simonomicon by saying that Sumerian magic is real. Sumerian magic may and probably is real, but the stuff in the Simonomicon is crap. I know only a very tiny little bit about Sumerian magic and even I can tell that the stuff in the Simonomicon isn't Sumerian, or any other coherent pre-Christian Mesopotamian magic. It's a jumbled garb of shite, and while they were making shit up, they didn't even bother to make the meager Lovecraftian contents enjoyable. Fuck Simon. If you want an entertaining Necronomicon, check out the Don Tyson version from Llewellyn. I hate most of his other books, but at least he cared enough to write a Necronomicon that included Lovecraft's input.

Well...What can we expect from the world of horrors? People are generally REALLY stupid.

I work in a bookstore, and you'd be surprised about the attension that the Simon edition generates. We had a guy come in recently...This particular fellow got very irate after visiting the "New Age" section, and asked for a manager.

His problem? "Why would we keep such a book of "DARK POWER" unprotected on the shelves?"

I hope that guy has to battle the Elder Gods every day of his soon to be eaten life! ;)

I just wish they'd do a new edition of it in hardcover. I find it laughable as a magic tome, but at least the HC version makes a good ritual prop.
